Google boss Schmidt talks to FT.com

Google CEO Eric Schmidt gave this week’s “View from the top” on FT.com.

Interviewed by FT.com’s US Managing Editor Chrystia Freeland, Schmidt answered questions on a number of issues. Coming just after the $1.65 billion acquisition of YouTube meant there was much discussion of the social networking and Web 2.0 area.

Schmidt’s most pertinent comment was that Google “wasn’t in the content business”. He also refused to respond to speculation concerning Face Book. He also spoke highly of the UK’s role in leading the process of innovation in Europe.
